John Lowell has been performing in the Mountain West for more than 40 years and  was honored with the 2024 Montana Governor's Award - the highest honor the state bestows on artists working in the literary, visual or performing arts. John is a triple threat - songwriter, singer and guitarist, and his smooth voice is featured on many recordings.. He's toured the world with his bands Kane's River, Growling Old Men, and the John Lowell Band, performing at Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, WIntergrass, Winfield and Prairie Home Companion among hundreds more. 

John and Joanne’s new release On My Way Home features original songs written or co-written by John with Joanne, Rick Lang, Anne Sibley and Sarah Pierce. It also features songs by Dean Johnson, Ben Bullington and Alton Delmore. The duo will be touring to support the new project starting in spring of 2026. 

John’s last recording Snow On The Wineglass debuted at #2 on the Western album charts and was named Album of the Year by the International Western Music Association (IWMA) in November of 2024. Lowell was also named Songwriter of the Year. He’s recently been nominated for four awards and won Western Single of the year by the Academy of Western Music. John’s prior recording She'sLeaving Cheyenne was nominated for four awards in 2022, and his song Angus MacKenzie won Working Cowboy Song of the Year. Wyoming Public Radio named She's Leaving Cheyenne Album of the Year in 2021 and that year also brought Lowell the Grand Prize in the Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest. Two years later, it is still in the top 20 of most played Western songs on the chart. 

Lowell teaches guitar and songwriting in the US, the UK, Canada and Europe, He's performed at the Crossover Festival in the UK, the Kerrville Folk Festival, the Albuquerque Folk Festival, the Vancouver Folk Festival, the Targhee Bluegrass Festival, A Prairie Home Companion and many, many more venues around the world. 

Joanne Gardner Lowell has been a singer for over 40 years, sharing stages with folks like Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Tracy Nelson, Vince Gill, Shawn Colvin, Marcia Ball, Bill Payne and Darrell Scott to name just a few. She has a naughty blues band of her own in Montana. Joanne and John live in Livingston, Montana where they produce musical events. The duo has been performing John's original songs and some favorite covers for a decade.
