The Montvales
“Addressing issues ranging from self-determination to money, (Born Strangers) is also infused with opinions on gender. According to both performers, music allows each to express deeply-held beliefs – such as thoughts on reproductive freedom – in a way they believe might be more unrestrained and effective than what other communication methods might allow. This freedom to express a range of beliefs – popular, unpopular, controversial, mundane, weird, hyper-personal, or anything in between – lures many to make a life of music. The power of this isn’t lost on The Montvales…It’s something some of their musical heroes understood well, acts such as The Indigo Girls and The Chicks. The Montvales clearly aim to be just as forthright.”

The Two Tracks
Top 10 Albums of the Year (2023), Montana Public Radio - Alt-Americana and country-rock storytelling that does equally as well at full volume on a road trip across the lonesome prairie, or in a dark honky-tonk bar stop somewhere along the way. Great harmonies and some juicy cello playing. "Working Man's Blues" is a standout track on a rare complete album that contradicts the modern practice of single releases and filler. — Christopher Moyles

Although Andrew was raised on classic rock and pop-country, he eventually found his passion for Folk, Americana, and Bluegrass. He loves the elegance and simplicity of acoustic music, and is dedicated to making his instruments an extension of himself. And while he is only beginning to establish himself as a songwriter, the fingerprints of songwriters who came before him can be found all throughout his music.

Brennen Leigh
As renowned for her musicianship as for her writing, it’s easy to see how Leigh caught the ear of greats like Guy Clark, who colorfully endorsed her flatpicking: “Brennen Leigh plays guitar like a motherfucker,” and David Olney, who described her writing as “tender, violent, sentimental, foolish and wise, she is always Brennen. Confident and at ease with herself, without being a jerk about it.”
